mLearning can be advantageous for both the educator and learner by embedding powerful, behind-the-scenes data analytical tools. By being able to analyze how a learner interacts with the learning content, educators can identify pain points, reinforce content that learners are struggling with and ensure that all learners are learning at their own pace. mLearning can be a perpetual formative assessment. Learners are also able to benefit from this as they are better equipped to self-direct their learning, learn at their own pace and can be better informed on the progress of their learning.

Hi Julio and Sundeep,
I’m very excited to see how data and analytics will be used in mLearning but considering analytics in education is still relatively new, we’re also facing the dilemma of not knowing what to do with our data. This is especially salient in bigger institutions when everyone is looking at something different.

Hi Julio, Thanks for your comments. I agree, it can be better equipped a creating a more personalized, self-directed learning environment. I think what you said that it is a tool, is also a very important aspect of mLearning. It is indeed a tool, and not the main aspect of learning. As you said, it allows educators to identify points and reinforce areas of challenges. I feel this is probably the best way to describe mLearning.
