I've been working in higher education publishing at Pearson Canada for ~12 yrs., mostly with the delivery of content through courseware and learning applications. One of those applications, Learning Catalytics, is a great example of an mlearning tool to help increase student engagement with learning in groups or alone, synchronously or asynchronously. Pearson (US) worked with Eric Mazur to improve his active learning platform, and eventually purchased Learning Catalytics to help increase the use of active learning with laptops, phones, and tablets, while helping to remove financial barriers for students who might have to purchase multiple types of clicker devices for different courses. Instructors can deliver multiple choice questions with images and graphs and see quickly from the overall results where teaching interventions are needed or where it is safe to move on to a new topic.
Is anyone using quick-response/clicker questions, or even Learning Catalytics?
